We all know that I have a slight huge obsession with BaubleBar. Recently, I purchased an item from them that I want to yell about from the rooftops - the acrylic block monogram necklace. It is the most perfect, dainty piece of monogrammed jewelry that I own.

I wanted this to be an everyday necklace, which is why I choose to order it in the tiger's eye color - a pearlized tan. Oh my word. I am in love with it! I pair it with button downs, cotton tees, sweaters, and dress it up or down. I also think the clear crystal or tortoise shell color would be lovely. It's no secret that I love a stunning statement necklace, but sometimes outfits call for something more subtle - and this piece is the perfect fit. It's so teeny tiny but sturdy, even with its dainty look.

pearl front & back earrings

I've said it once, I'll say it again: LOFT is on. point. this year. I can tell that LOFT is changing in order to appeal to a younger demographic, and I love it. They have been coming out with affordable versions of what is "in," while also carrying basic pieces that are a girl's go-tos. The other night I stopped in at LOFT to look at the new merchandise, when I stumbled upon earrings that I have been lusting over for awhile now.

Dior makes pearl 360 earrings that are 3 bajillion dollars, probably (a very accurate price). BaubleBar came out with a very similar pair for $28. One of my favorite bloggers wears them often, and I just love the way they look on her. I debated buying the BaubleBar version, but never got around to doing so because I thought they might look odd on me and I couldn't justify the price if I wasn't positive about them. Along comes LOFT. They have come out with their own rendition of the tribal pearl earring - the pearlized front-back stud earrings. With my employee discount (I work there one day a week), they ended up being about $10 (regularly $19.50). LOFT has 40% off sales pretty frequently, so you can definitely score them at a discount.

I wore them Friday night and realized that I was so glad I ended up purchasing them! They add a little edgy glamour to any outfit. Normally I'm not one for trends, but if it involves pearls, I can get behind it. These would be a great holiday gift for a friend as well.

Moral of the story - you can find a less expensive version of items you have been coveting. Lately, a lot of retailers are replicating what high-end brands are doing. It just takes some searching.

brand focus: baublebar

BaubleBar holds a special place in my heart, and it is not simply because of their gorgeous & affordable fashion jewelry. I chose this company to focus on for my senior capstone project in college. Because of this, I've researched the company from front to back, and I've concluded I'm in love with it.

BaubleBar was founded in 2011, and has seen immense growth in the past 3 years. Without getting into numbers and other boring things, BaubleBar has had awesome collaborations with people such as Blair Eadie, Courtney Kerr, and Ingrid Nilsen (to name a few) and continues to prove itself as the destination for fashion jewelry.

While in NYC this year, I was able to make an appointment with two friends at The Bar at BaubleBar in the Flatiron District. Let me tell you... It was one of the neatest shopping experiences of my life. The Bar at BaubleBar is attached to their corporate office, and it is located in a larger office building. Once we arrived on the 6th floor, we were greeted by a young girl named Isabelle, who was our stylist for the appointment. We were offered champagne, but politely declined (it was 10:30 am). The three of us shopped around the little showroom for about a half hour before we made our final decisions. It was a pretty difficult choice, because we loved so many pieces, but we each ended up getting something beautiful and unique.

Notable: If you want to stop at The Bar, you must make an appointment prior. It's totally worth it if you're in the NYC area!

I ended up going with the Maharaja necklace, below the pink one (no longer online - but here's one similar).

After the appointment at The Bar, my love for the company was further solidified. I currently only have two pieces from BaubleBar, but I plan on purchasing many more. They are so versatile and glamorous.

Above is the necklace I purchased while in NYC from BB. I literally wear it with everything. Black dresses. Navy tops. Florals. Plaids. Chambray. You name it, this necklace goes with it.

This mint beauty was a graduation gift to myself (#treatyourself). It is from the BBxAnthropologie collection. It is no longer online, but here is a gorgeous alternative. I usually wear this with navy or white. I like to keep things simple and let the necklace be the focal point.

Needless to say, my wish list on BaubleBar grows by the day. I'm currently most coveting this necklace & these earrings.

cheap thrills

Have you been coveting the BaubleBar custom monogram necklace as much as I have? Welcome, this blog post is for you.

There is something so fun and polished about a good monogrammed item, whether it be jewelry, a tote bag, pajamas, or a classic sweater. Monograms signify that the item is yours, and no one else's. I have been eyeing up monogram necklaces for quite some time now, but I couldn't justify spending $145 on a necklace that I won't be wearing every day. However, I knew there were less expensive alternatives out there. When I want to find something at a decent price that is still unique, I turn to Etsy. The vendors on this site are always a joy to work with, and create one-of-a-kind pieces that are of good quality.

Although I was a little apprehensive to order a custom piece of jewelry for a mere $18.99 + shipping... I did it anyway. The result was surprisingly amazing!

I ordered the 1.25 inch gold plated monogrammed necklace with an 18 inch chain. I have to say, I was quite impressed with the craftsmanship and quick shipping! I received the item in about a week from the seller, which is impressive considering that it was a custom order. The necklace seems like it is very high quality for the price. My only reservation is that I wish the chain was a little bit thinner, and the monogram slightly smaller. But, I am happy with it for now, until I can afford the BaubleBar version. Notable: the chain is not adjustable, but simply has a lobster clasp and one loop.

For days when I don't feel like wearing a statement necklace, and I want something a little more polished, I throw on this item.
